| New Year |
| 01.01.05 (2:47 pm) [edit] |
New Year's Eve was hmm alright I guess. Not as bad as going to fucking Illusions like last year surrounded by a bunch of 6 yr olds. Played poker, texas holdem, and Blackjack with a few friends. That was fun. A little money involved. Didn't win of course. And that was most of the extent of New Year's Eve. Really wished there had been alcohol since I didn't have to work today, but no one wanted to hit any parties. Damn, oh well. Getting over a slight cold anyways. I left for a little to see a few friends that were down the street, but then came back right before midnight. At midnight we stopped Napoleon Dynamite and switched to the news to watch the Space Needle set off fireworks. Never seems that interesting to watch than if you were actually there freezing your ass off and being squished by a few hundred people. I guess if you're really into the whole New Year thing, maybe it would be more worth wild. Meh I can't complain I still got a kiss later. Watched The Village around 12:30, but eventually turned it off, it's not that good of a movie... at all.
Hmm I'm not a fanatic in celebrating overemphasized, over exaggerated, and overstressed holidays, but there are some aspects that appeal to me. However, I tend to care about what others would prefer to do. Fuck me.... 'By not imposing hardly anything, the outcome is scarcely close to nothing.' I guess that's true but it sounds like a stupid fortune cookie. Most of that ridiculous traditional crap is lame in my opinion. Mainly I think, it's like a bunch of mindless idiots doing what everyone else does. To participate in it just because some other dumbass is, to throw money left and right, or do things you wouldn't normally do for one supposed special time. But a small part thinks, if you actually got caught up in it all, drinking and doing all the other things everyone else does, the difference is at midnight, they're all smiling, are idiotically cheerful, and having a great time even on a dumb holiday.
Maybe I am too cynical or it is just a cop out like so many other things.... Bah start of winter quarter meaning back to classes on Monday.
