2,079
11.16.05 (5:14 pm)   [edit]
2,079 to most is just a number. Yet that number represents the number of U.S. service members who have died since the war began in 2003. Is war right or is it wrong, is it needed or not, is the loss worth the gain, do the means justify the ends? I have no answer. I do not know. Your heart may tell you one, your head may tell another. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. Lives are lost no matter the race. A life is a life despite it all. Do the "bad" guys deserve to die? If you take a life do you deserve to die? Is "killed or be killed" a sentence to justify killing. Protection, Justice, Right, Wrong, Reason, Need, are words which we as humans, place significant meaning upon.

These are the things which I've always wondered, more so recently. Could the person you care about become the next number? Insecurity of the unknown, the future, the moments which shall ensue. Is it right to place blame on someone (i.e. the President) when the people that joined the armed forces knew what they were signing up for? To protect the U.S., it's citizens, freedom. Is there a singular person with which we can ultimately place blame on? Perhaps it is but emotion that we need to feel the urge to subdue our anger, sadness, and righteousness of understanding the events that harm "our" people.

This is just an opinion, not meant to be political nor offend anyone.
